Prediction of sheared edge characteristics of advanced high strength steel

Abstract In the present work, numerical models are developed for shearing and cutting process of advanced high strength steel-blanks which can predict edge morphology in shear effected zone. A damage model, based on modified Mohr-Coulomb fracture surface, is calibrated. To increase predictability models, surface fine-tuned areas corresponding to stress-state cutting, a methodology called Local calibration Fracture Surface (LCFS). Four cases with varying clearance simulated verified experimental tests, showing good agreement. It thus found that suggested simulate adequate accuracy.
